Go deeper into yoga

Part One of the 200-Hour Teacher Training · Next cohort forming

Not just postures. Not just movement. The living tradition behind the practice, studied the way it was always meant to be.

Small cohort · Applications reviewed individually

What this training is

Most of us came to yoga for the poses. We stayed for something we could not quite name.

That something has a name. It has a lineage, a philosophy, a set of tools that go far beyond the mat. Yoga, in its original form, is a systematic science of the self. A method for understanding how we function, why we suffer, and how we can genuinely change. Not through willpower. Through practice.

The Practitioner’s Training is where that understanding begins. Not the theory alone, but the lived experience of it: in your body, your breath, your patterns of thought. You will study what yoga actually is, where it came from, and why it works. And you will feel it working, because the practice and the philosophy are always taught together.

This is Part One of our 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training, but you do not have to want to teach to be here. Many students come purely for themselves. The only requirement is a genuine desire to go deeper.

This is where the real practice begins.

Who this is for

You might be exactly who we are looking for

The dedicated practitioner

You have been practicing for a while and something keeps pulling you deeper. You sense there is more beneath the surface of what you have learned, and you are ready to find out what it is.

The curious student

You have always been drawn to the philosophy, the history, the why behind the practice. You want to understand yoga as a complete system: not just a physical discipline, but a framework for living.

The future teacher

You can feel the pull toward teaching, but you want to be genuinely prepared, not just certified. You want to understand what you are teaching before you ever stand in front of a room.

This training is intimate by design. We keep cohorts intentionally small so every student receives real attention, genuine mentorship, and a learning environment where your experience matters.

What you will study

Three months. Three modules.

1

Defining yoga

What yoga actually is, its origins, its purpose, its lineage. We begin with the Yoga Sūtras of Patañjali as a living document, studying what Patañjali himself says yoga is. You will build a framework for understanding yourself and your practice that carries through everything that follows.

2

Prāṇa and the Pañcamāya

Prāṇa, life force, as the bridge between body and mind. The Pañcavāyu maps how life force moves through us and where it becomes disrupted. The Pañcamāya maps the five layers of human experience. Together they give a precise and deeply personal framework for understanding yourself and how specific practices restore harmony.

3

The living practice

Prāṇāyāma, meditation, Āyurveda, and the therapeutic applications of yoga and its tools. This module brings the full scope of the practice together as one integrated system for working with the human being at every level. You leave with the understanding and the tools to sustain a genuine personal practice.

Woven throughout

Every module integrates āsana, prāṇāyāma, meditation, chanting, and philosophy as a unified whole, the way they were always meant to be taught. You will also explore the science of behavioral change, the use of classical models to understand your own patterns and tendencies, and the deepening of your own personal practice through ongoing integration of everything you are learning.

Kevala, C-IAYT yoga therapist
Lead instructor and program director

Kevala

C-IAYT · E-RYT 500 · RCYT · RPYT · YACEP

Kevala came to yoga not as a fitness practice but as a path of healing, and that origin shapes everything she teaches. A certified yoga therapist trained directly in the Krishnamacharya lineage, she studied Ashtanga under David Miliotis, an authorized teacher of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, and Viniyoga and yoga therapy under Chase Bossart, student of TKV Desikachar.

Her trainings go beyond sequences and scripts. Students develop a practitioner’s understanding of why yoga works and how to use it that way. She is currently pursuing her MS and Ph.D. in Yoga Science at Vivekananda Yoga University, specializing in yoga for trauma recovery and self-realization.

Larissa, lead teacher and personal mentor

Larissa

RYT 200 · Trauma-Informed Certified · Aerial Hammock Certified

Larissa completed her 225-hour Yoga Teacher Training here at The Mind-Body Connection under Kevala’s direct guidance, which means she has walked exactly the path you are about to walk. Rooted in the Krishnamacharya lineage and trained in both the Ashtānga and Viniyoga traditions, she understands this material as someone who has lived it.

Before yoga, Larissa spent 18 years as an early childhood educator, and that background shapes the way she mentors. She meets students where they are, holds space without judgment, and is the steady presence that supports your growth between modules.

From our students

In their own words

“It’s not exercise. It’s a spiritual practice. If you’re willing to do the internal work and make that step, it’s so worth it. You’re getting a lot more than you would from just learning how to get in a picture-perfect Warrior Three pose. It’s how to feel good internally.”

Morgan · January 2024 cohort

“I felt safe to explore all of it, to the depth that I could at this point. A soft landing pad to be in the wilderness, and not know the answers, and be okay with uncertainty, and allow for whatever it is without any fear of it.”

Larissa · January 2024 cohort

“Learning the skill of being able to have introspection about myself has made me connect to myself on a deeper level. And I’ll use that forever. That’s such a useful life skill. It will forever stay with me and change my life from here on out.”

Stevie · January 2025 cohort

“The ability to sit with myself, and take the time to sit with myself, and be present in my body is something I didn’t do before yoga. My breath is my safe place, and I feel like it’s a gift that no one can ever take away.”

Franki · June 2025 cohort
How to apply

It starts with a conversation

Every student in this training begins with an intake call. Not because there are hoops to jump through, but because this is a small, intimate cohort, and fit matters. For both of us.

We will talk about where you are in your practice, what is calling you deeper, and what you are hoping to walk away with. You will get a chance to ask everything on your mind, including tuition and payment options. And we will both get a sense of whether this is the right next step for you.

No pressure, no sales pitch. Just an honest conversation about your path.

Common questions

Things worth knowing

The short answers. Bring the rest to your intake call.

Do I have to commit to the full 200 hours before I start?

No. The Practitioner’s Training is Part One and it stands completely on its own. You do not need to decide whether to continue into Part Two until after you complete Part One. Many students start simply to see how it feels, and that is exactly how it is designed to work.

What is the tuition investment?

Tuition is discussed during your intake call along with deposit information and any available payment options. We go over everything transparently so you know exactly what to expect before you make any decisions. There are no surprises.

I am interested but need to talk it over with my spouse first.

We would love to have them join your intake call. If your spouse or partner needs to be part of the decision, bring them along so they can hear everything firsthand, ask their own questions, and feel confident about the path forward together.

What about attendance?

We recommend showing up live as much as possible, because that is where the real transformation happens. All sessions are recorded, so if something comes up you will not fall behind. If you are not pursuing certification, recordings are always available. If you choose certification later, any modules missed will need to be retaken live. And if life takes an unexpected turn, you can take a leave of absence and rejoin the next cohort when you are ready.

Do I need prior yoga experience?

You do not need to be advanced, but some familiarity with yoga practice is helpful. What matters more than years on the mat is genuine curiosity and readiness to go deeper. We will talk about where you are during your intake call.

How many students are in each cohort?

We keep enrollment intentionally limited so every student receives real attention, genuine mentorship, and a learning environment where your experience matters. Spots fill quickly, and once they are gone they are gone until the next cohort opens.
